Abruptly the music changed, moving into a slower, more appeasing beat. What people there were on the floor breathed an almost audible sigh of relief while the voices all around decreased in volume. As is anyone was interested in drunken banter anyway. I uttered my own sigh of comfort I wasn’t feeling quite so jumpy. Casual glances from other patrons didn’t find me flinching.
